An exhibition dedicated to José Pedro Costiglio, a pioneer of Uruguayan non-figurative art, and his stylistic development from the late 1950s to 1980s. Piero Atchugarry Gallery, Garzón, Uruguay, is pleased to announce a solo show of paintings by José Pedro Costigliolo, opening April 17, 2014.

JOSE PEDRO COSTIGLIOLO Uruguayan, 1902-1985 Born in 1902 in Montevideo, Uruguay, Costigliolo studied at the "Circulo de Bellas Artes" from 1921-1925 under masters such as Vicente Puig and Guillermo Laborde. From 1929-1946, he explored graphic design, muralism, and Planism.

José Pedro Costigliolo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1902. He was one of the first non-figurative painters of his country. Costigliolo was a student of Vicente Puig and Guillermo Laborde from 1921 to 1925. The artist was one of the founder of the non-figurative art group in 1952 with his wife Maria Freire. From 1957 to 1959, the artist specialized in glass stain art in Europe.
